Bruce was raised in Blythe and is a 1983 graduate of Palo Verde High School. He attended San Diego State University and obtained his Culinary Arts Degree. In 1994 Bruce relocated back to Blythe and started his career with the Department of Correction, Chuckwalla Valley State Prison, as a Supervisor Cook. In 2002 he attended the Department of Corrections academy and graduated as a sworn peace officer. In 2011, Bruce left the Department of Corrections and lateraled into the position of CEO for the Colorado River Fair (state fairgrounds). In 2020, he retired from state service after 26 years. In 2021 Bruce became the part-time Administrative Assistant for the Community Improvement Fund and the CEO in 2023. Throughout his years of living in Blythe, Bruce served as a Board of Director for the Blythe Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years, is the owner of Bruce Wilson’s Catering, and devoted many years to volunteering at the Colorado River Fairgrounds. Bruce has one son, Cory Wilson, serving in the United States Army, daughter-in-law Savannah and a granddaughter, Davina.
